07/03/2019 – Between the lines
When you visit the Israel Museum in Jerusalem you can view a huge model of the city. This detail shows among other things the believed tower of the so-called Davids Tomb. Archaeology in the Holy Land is a tricky and complicated science. Yesterday I got a chance to speak with one of the most recognised archaeologist about the matter of the mutual affectations between archaeology and politics. Different interests are playing into the game around research, facts and politics. Like the discussion about the presence and existence of King David who ought to be proof of certain policies, archaeology is often driven by certain desires and is endangered to become biased and impertinent.
